Prayer Requests:
-For my team in Togo as they prepare for me to join them
-That the last-minute logistics of my arrival would go smoothly
-That even in a time of great transition, I would abide in the Lord
Hey friends!
Thank you all so much for your prayers. Field Personnel Orientation (FPO) was a very full and edifying 7-week training period. We looked at biblical models for evangelizing, discipleship,
and church planting. We also got practical tips for the field, security training, and vaccines. Perhaps most importantly, we got to connect with brothers and sisters in the same boat, were urged to abide in Christ (that is a Christian’s no. 1 job, no matter his or her title), and heard stories of what the Lord had done through the lives of experienced missionaries. I’m so grateful for it all.
We also saw God at work through community evangelism. Between the 89 of us adult missionaries, hundreds of people heard the gospel. I, personally, was able to share with Bryan (agnostic), Anna Maria (universalist), and Hint (Muslim). I’d appreciate it if you’d lift a prayer for those three right now.
Since coming home from FPO, I’ve been able to be in a wedding, travel and spend time with family, share about the plan for the next two years with two precious congregations (First Baptist Church of Graniteville and Two Mile Swamp Baptist Church in Cope) and get some ducks in a row. I believe the biggest duck was my Togolese visa, but in response to prayer it was processed in 1 day!
My American habitation is now wrapping up. On New Year’s Day, the first of my three flights departs at 3:17 PM. I should arrive in Togo (and also the future) on the night of January 2nd. The feels have been quite varied about it, but I know God has led me to this and it is a privilege.
Please pray for the last-minute logistics (packing, covid test, maneuvering through the Togolese airport and customs, etc.), and that my final days in the United States before October 2023 would be well spent.
God bless you all.
