Hey dear friends. It’s been a while since my last update, but I hope this finds you well. Thank you so much for any prayer(s) you have lifted.
First, a new word about donations. So many of you have generously asked if there is a way you can donate to our mission work here in Togo. It is against both company policy and my personality to solicit donations, but I do have a new PayPal account solely for ministry efforts. If you look to the right of the tabs on the main page of this blogsite, the round “Financial Support” button will get you to my profile on Neighbors 2 Nations. If you feel led to give, it would be greatly appreciated by recipients of humanitarian projects, my team, and I. Though giving is never expected!
Onwards, I have two personal life updates. The first is that I’m now fairly comfortable driving stick-shift-style in my city. The second is that I’m understanding the gist of much French dialogue (I suspect it will take a while before my speaking ability follows). I can also say four whole things in the local dialect, Ewe. Thank you for your prayers that have helped me make strides in these two areas.
Mission-wise, my supervisor and I have been working with Send Relief to acquire funding so that 60 orphans can attend a Christian school this year. Praise the Lord, the money has come through. I have no doubt that these children spending their days getting a Christian education will have a positive impact on the community of Djagblé.
In other exciting news, last weekend I tagged along with a team over in Aného to do some discipleship and evangelism. This team consists of an IMB colleague named Suzanne and two local ladies. The work was done in French and Ewe, so my role was having a spirit of support and prayer. And this contributed to language immersion! It was so wonderful to watch the gospel explained to these local women and be encouraged by an elderly believer (most of the elderly population there subscribes to animism). Please pray for the several women that we interacted with, and for future similar trips. I plan on returning monthly.
Yesterday, I began a Bible study with my teenage friend, Christianna. We plan on having this at a horse stable called Club Hippique twice a week. Club Hippique draws a very international and secular community. We hope that by opening and discussing our Bibles here, the door will be opened for Gospel conversations. Please pray that this happens.
At the end of April, I’ll be making a brief trip North to help La Maison de l’Evangile perform a hospital renovation in Jesus’ name. Please pray that we would be effective manual laborers, and the community would see the church’s work and give God the glory.
We do have a few medical projects on the calendar and would love to add to them. Currently, our biggest hindrance is the ability to ship supplies in from more developed countries. Our arrangement with a new store owner is not panning out as desired, but we know it fits within God’s plan. Please pray that we can find a way to get supplies and maximize their use for God’s glory.
That’s all folks. Thank you so much for reading this update and your prayers--they are treasures. And always feel free to reach out if you have questions or prayer requests yourselves.
Love,
Brooke
